Alongside faster block production, this creates a new opportunity for Toncoin holders.
Validators stake Toncoin to help secure the TON network and earn Toncoin from two sources: transaction fees and block creation rewards.
After the upgrade, the reward for each block remains the same: 1.7 Toncoin per masterchain block and 1.0 Toncoin per basechain block. With blocks produced much faster (~x6), validators are able to produce more blocks, which increases rewards per validation cycle. As a result, TON\u2019s annual inflation is expected to rise from around 0.6% to around 3.6%.
For Toncoin holders, this makes staking more attractive. As validator rewards rise, the incentive to hold and stake Toncoin to secure the TON network becomes stronger.
At the same time, TON retains its burn mechanism, 50% of transaction fees are burned, which offsets part of the added issuance as activity grows. In the future, validators may vote to update rewards and burn mechanics to further balance TON\u2019s tokenomics.
For users, that means two things:
\u2013 near-instant transactions
\u2013 more attractive staking
