Etherealize Research just published a 22-page report laying out the cleanest long-form bull case for ETH we have seen this cycle.

Titled "Ethereum and the Era of Productive Money," it formalises the $ETH investment case and states that ETH could theoretically be priced at $250,000 per coin if the market shares its vision.

The thesis has three core arguments driving its point home.

\ud83d\udd0d The Three Arguments<\/b>

\u27a1\ufe0f Productive Money<\/b>. This is the primary argument. It states that ETH is the first monetary asset in history that compounds without counterparty risk. Holders stake directly into the protocol for 2% to 4% yield. No lending, no rehypothecation, no third-party issuer. Both BTC and gold are bearer assets, but neither offers native yield. The report borrows from Buffett's 2011 Berkshire letter, where he complained that gold was neither useful nor "procreative." Etherealize applies the same critique to BTC: any bearer asset that pays nothing has to earn its entire return through price appreciation, meaning it has to keep recruiting new marginal buyers forever. The obvious objection is that staking yield is just inflation. The report counters with EIP-1559's burn mechanism. When usage eclipses issuance, ETH becomes deflationary. It also notes that fee-funded portion of staking rewards is more analogous to a corporate profit-sharing program.

\u27a1\ufe0f Bitcoin's Security Decay<\/b>. Bitcoin's security is paid for by miner revenue: block rewards (halving every four years, engineered to reach zero) and transaction fees (historically a rounding error on a chain capped at three to seven TPS). The unspoken assumption is that fees will rise to replace the disappearing subsidy. If they do not, hash rate shrinks and the cost of attack falls. The report calculates total replacement cost of all Bitcoin mining hardware at approximately $6.3 billion. Several tech companies spend more than that on compute in a single quarter. ETH's proof-of-stake model would require acquiring roughly one third of all staked ETH (around $31 billion) to attack, and that stake gets slashed in the attempt. If ETH's market cap doubles, the cost to attack doubles. Bitcoin has no equivalent mechanism. In this perspective, ETH has a better security model than BTC.

\u27a1\ufe0f The DeFi Floor<\/b>. Roughly 30% of all ETH is staked. A growing chunk of its supply also sits in DeFi as collateral on Maker, Aave, and Uniswap. EIP-1559 has destroyed roughly 4.6 million ETH since 2021. Together these create something gold and bitcoin do not have: a floor of real economic activity setting minimum demand regardless of the monetary narrative. Even if the institutional premium never arrives, ETH still has to be bought to stake, to collateralise stablecoins, and to pay gas.

\u26a0\ufe0f Where It Falls Short<\/b>

The $250,000 figure comes from dividing the combined $33 trillion gold and $1.5 trillion BTC monetary premium across the ETH supply. However, new money hardly ever replaces old money completely. It layers on top and takes share at the margin. Etherealize acknowledges this in the closing section \u2013 that\u2019s why the number is more theoretical than realistic.

\ud83d\udd16 Bottom Line<\/b>: The counterparty risk-free compounding argument is a strong one. Over a long enough horizon, productive money does tend to win.
